General Information

What is AXA Schengen travel insurance?

AXA Schengen travel insurance is a travel insurance plan specifically designed to meet the requirements for obtaining a Schengen visa, necessary for travelers visiting any of the 29 Schengen Area countries in Europe. It ensures that travelers meet the mandatory coverage for medical emergencies up to €30,000 during their stay, complying with visa requirements.

AXA Schengen travel insurance offers various plans to accommodate different travel needs, whether for tourism, business trips, or annual stays. The coverage includes medical expenses, emergency medical evacuation, and repatriation, along with additional benefits such as trip interruption or delay, lost or stolen baggage, and personal liability.

Do I need to purchase Schengen travel insurance when I have other insurance coverage?

If you already have travel insurance that meets Schengen visa requirements (coverage of at least €30,000 for medical expenses, including emergency evacuation and repatriation), you may not need to purchase additional travel insurance. However, AXA Schengen travel insurance offers more flexible travel-specific coverage, such as trip cancellations, lost baggage, and 24/7 emergency assistance, which standard insurance may not provide. Make sure your current insurance covers the Schengen Area and meets visa requirements before deciding.

What do travelers need to do to qualify for AXA Schengen travel insurance?

To qualify for AXA Schengen travel insurance, travelers need to:

  1. Provide necessary personal and trip details such as travel dates and destination countries.
  2. Purchase AXA Schengen travel insurance before the trip begins to ensure coverage for the entire stay in the Schengen Area.
